Weekly Notices Week 9 Term 2

Tomorrow we are making our models. Models are to be made AT SCHOOL please. 

Don't forget to bring your bits and pieces that you have planned, such as, string, glue, sellotape, cardboard, tin foil, recycled containers. 


Mon  - Model making

Tues  - Completing posters, booklets, slide shows and model
Matariki Liturgy 10am

Wed  - OPEN afternoon and evening for parents to come and see our ideas around sustainability. Beginning at 1.30 pm - ending 5 pm. 

Cultural Dinner beginning at 5.30 pm (see Newsletter for details)

Thurs -  A band is coming to play at school 1.30 pm (No Kapa Haka this week)

Fri - The great ANNUAL Cake Competition (Notices went home for this one Friday)


Model Information we discussed last week....

All students are going to create a MODEL for something based on sustainability – either a renewable energy source or an invention which will help the environment. 

Step 1. Decide what you are going to make your project about and write it in your project booklet.

Step 2.  Make more notes in your project booklet – the pages are set out to help you.

Step 3.  Bring in things from home to make your model out of.  

Step 4.  Make your model.

Step 5.  Write about it!

Week 8 Notices Term 2

Thanks to all the parents who made an effort to come to our breakfast. It was lovely to meet you. 

I would really like to meet with some of you regarding your children's progress and how you might be able to help at home. I will contact you directly if I have concerns about your child's progress.

Reminder - The Young Vinnies are collecting good used clothing and non perishable food. Every item is worth a house point and the room with the most house points gets their own mufti day.

We will be working on our projects this week about Sustainability....more to come tomorrow about that.

Weekly Messages Term 2 Week 7

Hi everyone,

At last I'm here, seems to have been many weeks in the making. If you would like to meet me and have a chat, please call in on Wednesday morning at 8 am. The children will be cooking you breakfast! 

A bit about myself.

I have taught at St Mary's for 10 years, having taught Middle School, Senior School and Junior School. It is great to have a range of experience over all of these years, with a good knowledge of learning progressions. 

I have two children, Rachel who turns 20 today, is at University studying a co-joint degree in Psychology and Anthropology. She is very happy learning exactly what she wants to learn. Here goal is to do her Doctorate in Psychology through the Air Force. She has been learning to fly for several years, a mothers worst nightmare when they go solo! 

Daniel is in his Year 13 year and is a talented design artist. His goal is to go to Media Design School in Auckland next year or the year after. He is amazing a building computers from scratch (taught via You tube!). He loves to socialise with his mates, hang at the beach and play Dungeons ans Dragons. Oh and a bit of bike riding too. 

Mrs Whibley tells me some children last week were not on task and mucking about not completing their work. Please check in with your child if it was them and have a chat. 

This week:

MONDAY - Jrock children out

TUESDAY - Late start for Jrock children if necessary. 

                      Dynamos Leadership day - children going have been advised 9-2pm 

WEDNESDAY - 8 am Rm 3 Meet the teacher - come for breakfast 
                   and  have a chat if you wish. 

                            School singing 8.45 am

                            9 am ICAS Spelling

The Young Vinnies are collecting non perishable food and good unwanted clothing to help the homeless.

Please send to school. We will gain 1 house point for each item donated. 

The class that collects the most house points overall will have a mufti day just for their class!

Weekly Message Week 6 Term 2

Hi Everyone

I think most of you know that Mrs Whibley will be in this week while I am still teaching in Room 6. Room 6's new teacher starts next week so I am all yours from Week 7 onward. Hooray!

For Mums and Dads,  Many of you already know me as I have taught your other children or via Kapa Haka. For those of you who don't know me please come and introduce yourself, I would love to meet you. I will be available to meet you from 8 am on Wednesday the 14th of June, come for breakfast...we will have a few sausages and hash browns to start the day! YUMMY!

Briefly, I have been teaching at St Mary's for 10 years. I am experienced in all curriculum levels having taught Yr 3/4 for 5 years, Yr 5/6 for three years and Yr 2 for two years. More about me next week.....
